SemiCut

Ultra-light semiautomatic tru-cut needle for soft tissue biopsy with guillotine system

Alternate Version: SemiCut with Coaxial, reference code: PD0PPxxyy

SemiCut is a disposable device designed for soft tissue biopsies such as liver, thyroid, kidney, breast, lung, and prostate.

The biopsy specimen can be taken with two different lengths: 10mm or 20 mm.

After loading the cannula, SemiCut can be used with one hand leaving the other hand free to handle other devices such as an ultrasound guide.

The stylet is equipped with a sample notch of 20 mm, trocar stylet, and "Menghini" sharpened tip to easily penetrate fibrous tissues. The echogenic markers on the cannula enhance visibility under ultrasound and avoid spread of cells during the biopsy procedure. Centimeter markings on the cannula surface allow for easy depth determination.

SemiCut is the lightest semi-automatic device on the market - this allows the user to leave the device safely inserted into the patient without support. Optionally, the NeedleVise® safety device can be added to the needle using reference code: PD0Rxxyy.

SemiCut with Coaxial

Ultra-light semiautomatic tru-cut needle for soft tissue biopsy with guillotine system and coaxial needle

SemiCut with Coaxial is a disposable device for soft tissue biopsy such as liver, thyroid, kidney, breast, lung, and prostate. The device comes with a coaxial introducer needle with a trocar stylet and "Menghini" sharpened tip

As with the standard SemiCut needle, after loading the cannula, SemiCut with Coaxial can be used with one hand, leaving the other hand free to handle other devices such as an ultrasound guide. Echogenic markers on the cannula surface allow for easy determination of insertion depth.

The use of a coaxial needle provides additional advantages such as:

  • increased speed of cannula advancement in cases of hard tissue biopsies by avoiding friction of parenchymal tissues

  • ability to perform multiple biopsies by inserting the needle into the coaxial which remains inside the target tissue

  • easier location of exact point of biopsy thanks to echogenic markers

Optionally, the NeedleVise® safety device can be added to the needle using the reference code: PD0PPR.
